[8 December 2008 – Hong Kong]
– 2008 International E-sports Festival (“IEF”) hosted by C Y Foundation Group Limited (SEHK: 1182) (“C Y Foundation”) in Wuhan, China has proven to be a resounding success. The 3-day event, regarded as the ‘Olympics’ of the digital entertainment industry, ended on 7 December 2008. It attracted world class players and more than 150,000 visitors.

2008 IEF marked a breakthrough in IEF’s competition model. For the first time, the event combined traditional on-the-ground competition with an online tournament. In addition to overwhelming participation from China and Korea, two of the largest digital entertainment markets in the world, contestants came from many Asian and European countries and regions including Japan, France, Sweden, Singapore and Hong Kong. In an atmosphere of intense competition, 120 participants produced top performances. Winners of Starcraft, Warcraft and Counter Strike, three of the major championship awards, won over RMB 1 million in cash and gift prizes.

Commenting on the success of the event, Mr. Theodore Cheng, Chairman of C Y Foundation which held exclusive rights to host 2008 IEF said, “We are pleased with the results of the IEF event this year. Congratulations to the winners and winning teams who excelled in tournament competition. The tournament succeeded in boosting IEF’s already strong presence in China and Korea with live broadcasts reaching an estimated audience of 5 million people.”

“Our mission is to make IEF the Olympics of the digital entertainment industry. Through IEF, we help promote a sense of team spirit and enjoyment among young people. The event also encourages a green lifestyle and a positive attitude to the fun and challenges that digital entertainment can offer,” added Mr. Cheng.
