2008 IEF Opens in Wuhan
Over 150,000 Visitors Expected for Three-Day Event
(5 December 2008, Hong Kong) – The International E-sports Festival (IEF) hosted by C Y Foundation Group Limited (SEHK: 1182; “C Y Foundation”) opened today in Wuhan, China. It runs through to 7 December. Considered one of the industry’s most spectacular international online games tournaments, more than 150,000 visitors are expected to attend the three-day event. Special guests include government officials of relevant departments and Wuhan city, Korean parliamentary members, and representatives from leading enterprises.
The grand opening ceremony was held this evening at Hua Zhong Ke Ji University in Wuhan. Well known entertainers including Korea’s Lee Jung Hyun and Nobrain, Qu Quancheng, Yu Haoming, Guo Feng and He Jie from China and Niki Chow from Hong Kong performed at the opening ceremony. Earlier, China and Korea signed an agreement to further enhance cooperation and promote the long term sustainable growth of the digital entertainment industry.
This year’s IEF Finals have attracted top online game players. Hong Kong representatives will compete against 120 contestants from China, Korea, Japan, France, Sweden and Singapore, for the champion prizes of over RMB 1 million in cash and gifts.
