C Y Foundation launches China Youth Electronic Tournament in Beijing

(11 October 2007, Hong Kong) — C Y Foundation Group Limited (SEHK:1182) is delighted to announce that its PRC subsidiary, C Y Foundation Culture Company Limited (“CYFCC”), together with the China Youth League’s Network Media Center , the China Youth Association for Network Development and China Youth Net, today launched the biggest digital entertainment event in China – the China Youth Electronic Tournament (“Tournament”) – in Beijing today. The day also saw the founding of the first China electronic tournament industry association –China Youth Association for Network Development Electronic Tournament Working Committee.
As technology develops, the internet dramatically changes people’s daily life. Online gaming tournaments are rapidly becoming one of the most popular forms of youth entertainment in China; of the 162 million internet users in China, 82.9 million are under the age of 25 and 45 million participate in online games. Thus, the implementation of well-structured operation and proper guiding principles in organizing and the participation of digital entertainment activities, such as electronic tournaments, is of utmost importance in promoting the national digital entertainment industry, improving the electronic tournament technique, and guiding for a healthy development of young people.
At the Tournament launch, a spokesperson for the Tournament, said:
“We will, through the green platform of the Tournament, nurture young people’s athletic spirit, improve their electronic network techniques, and demonstrate their ability in mastering the internet. To this end we are committed to organising our Tournaments as a popular international brand among the young people and internet users at large.”
The Tournament will undoubtedly drive the development of the newly emerged electronic tournament sector across China. The establishment of the China Youth Association for Network Development Electronic Tournament Working Committee will provide structured parameters to govern the industry’s development and the online game network culture.
In addition, in order to foster a green online entertainment platform for young people, the Tournament’s Organizing Committee has formed strategic alliances with respective renowned enterprises including China Netcom, Ourgame and strong media. The alliance aims to raise industry standards, guarantee technological quality standards, rally government policy support and ultimately create a favorable environment for the industry to grow.
To show their support to youth development, all fourteen ministries and committees of the China Government have committed to roll out the “Green Internet Policy” by jointly hosting this Tournament across China. The contest launches three major games, namely, “Doudizhu”, “Fair Poker” and “Chinese Chess”, which will be carried out in two contestant groups – professional and youth. The contest will commence both online and offline in five major zones across China with the final to be held in April 2008 in Shanghai. This nationwide Tournament is expected to be the largest of its kind in the digital and online games history of China in terms of the scale, the number of participants and the cash prizes.
